P&G's Najoh Tita-Reid Added to National Marketers Panel at Interep’s Annual Power of Urban Radio Event
Architect of ‘My Black is Beautiful’ Campaign to Join Other Major National Advertisers in Discussion on Radio’s Role in Multicultural Marketing
Interep (IREP.PK) announced Najoh Tita-Reid, Associate Marketing Director of Multicultural Marketing at Procter & Gamble, has been added to an illustrious group of leading national advertisers participating on a marketing panel, “The Strategic Importance of the African American Market to Help Grow Business,” at the ninth annual Power of Urban Radio event on September 20th in New York.
The group also includes executives from The Coca-Cola Company (Andrea Brown, Director, Media Planning), State Farm Insurance (Pam El, VP/Marketing), Lexus (Steve Jett, National Marketing Communications Manager), Wal-Mart (Gwen Kelly, Senior Manager/African American Marketing) and Verizon (Jeff McFarland, Executive Director, Multicultural Marketing). Moderating the session will be Ken Smikle, President/Publisher, Target Market News.
The session will focus on the strategic importance of the $710 billion African American market, and how to most effectively engage this major consumer group. Examples of successful urban radio campaigns will be shared, along with extensive insights on the subject.
Tita-Reid’s responsibilities at P&G include multicultural marketing, building capability, managing advertising agencies, and external relations. She is the architect of P&G’s new “My Black is Beautiful” campaign, whose goal is to make all African-American girls and women feel better about the way they are portrayed in media and, ultimately, feel better about themselves.
Sherman Kizart, SVP/Director of Urban Marketing for Interep, said, “We are thrilled that Najoh has agreed to join our panel of national marketers. This is a group that collectively controls a major percentage of national ad spending, and anyone who is serious about multicultural marketing will want to hear what these executives have to say about engaging the African-American consumer.”
Tita-Reid joined P&G in 1990 at the age of 17. After completing her four-year P&G/ INROADS internship, she started her career in retail sales where she was consistently ranked in the top 1% of sales performers. She also was the President of the Northeast Black Sales Organization where she led an increase in retention and advancement of African-American sales managers. She held a number of sales roles including North American Sales Training Manager, National Sales Category Project Manager for the Paper division, and was selected as one of five P&G managers to establish, Tremor, a wholly owned marketing service company where she held the role of Business Development Manager. After a successful career in Sales, Najoh transferred to Marketing, where she held numerous positions.
Throughout her career Najoh has been an avid mentor internally and externally and has also consistently mentored up to senior management in the areas of diversity and inclusion. Outside of P&G, she is an avid advocate for tutoring and mentoring African-American youth and consulting small business owners to support economic empowerment.
The Power of Urban Radio symposium showcases thought-leadership in the field of multicultural marketing, particularly as it relates to African American consumers and the urban marketplace. The event is being presented by Interep in conjunction with sponsors American Urban Radio Networks, Arbitron, CBS Radio, Cox Communications, Radio One, Emmis Communications, Inner City Broadcasting, BRE, Jones MediaAmerica, Premiere Radio Networks and New Revenue Solutions.
