Spanish Broadcasting System & SBS-Interep appoint Asha Olivia as National Director of New Business Development

Creates New Position and First Collaborative Hiring Between the Companies

Spanish Broadcasting System and SBS-Interep are pleased to announce the appointment of Asha Olivia to the position of New Business Development Director.  The collaborative hiring, the first of its kind between the broadcast company and representation firm, exemplifies the partnership between the two and will lay groundwork towards increased billings through new revenue sources.  Olivia will be tasked with targeting advertisers directly who have yet to tap into the burgeoning potential represented by Hispanic consumers.

Asha Olivia will dual report to Joe Mackay, VP of National Sales for SBS and Barry Fischer, General Manager for SBS-Interep, the rep division within McGavren Guild Radio that is dedicated to Hispanic sales.

Said Mackay, "SBS first became aware of Asha when she worked with CBS Outdoor Latino, with whom we have a relationship.  Her aggressive, no-quit approach to sales and her inclusion of SBS in deals as often as possible was extremely impressive.  We are confident that she will be a solid revenue booster for our company and SBS-Interep in very short order."

Added Fischer, "Upon meeting Asha, one cannot help but to be impressed.  Both her professional and personal backgrounds lead us to believe that she brings the right combination of skills and personality necessary to engage to high level clients and do so in a way that will make them understand that Hispanic consumers can be the next step towards their businesses' growth.  By doing that, she will ultimately help both of our companies reach a new level, and we are thrilled to announce this creative collaboration with SBS."

Both Marko Radlovic, Chief Operating Officer of SBS, and Lisa Sirotka-Sonnenklar, President of McGavren Guild Radio, gave full support to the hiring.  Both agree that the collaboration is an enhancement to their existing partnership and serves as a model for additional linked opportunities.  The SBS-Interep rep firm over-performed the combined marketplace in 2007, and adding this new position will strengthen its capabilities in targeting advertisers who have not yet explored Hispanic radio.

Olivia's background includes two Master's degrees, one in International Affairs from Georgetown University and one in Marketing from Pontifica Catholic University in Brazil, where she immersed herself in a foreign culture.  Subsequently, she has worked in various positions within the Hispanic field at ad agencies Leo Burnett and the Bravo Group, founded a ground-breaking public charity involved in international HIV/AIDS information, and even served as a Hispanic Market Consultant for NY City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office, where she played a role in the successful NYC debut of the Latin Emmy's and Latin Grammy's.  Most recently, Olivia served as Vice President, Latino Business Development, Eastern Region for CBS Outdoor Latino.
